  • Welcome to TeX.SX. I am not very fond of fetching documents from another site. Please put the document here and reduce it to the minimum version that still has the issue!

  • the reason I did it that way was for privacy concerns... instead of spending the time to ommit all personal information Commented Aug 18, 2016 at 21:33
  • A link to github is not really privacy safe ;-). For me you can fill in names like Gandalf, The Shire, Mordor etc. I don't care about your real data

  • I agree, but it's just one less source to be aggregated - and I can make the repo private at anytime.. Commented Aug 18, 2016 at 21:37
  • I changed the fonts to ones I had but the example still produces errors (\end occurred when \ifx on line 9 was incomplete) (\end occurred when \ifx on line 7 was incomplete) Commented Aug 18, 2016 at 21:38

Despite its misleading name entrylist is a tabular not a list, as such it is an unbreakable box and the heading does not fit above it on the page.

\newenvironment{entrylist}{%
  \begin{tabular*}{\textwidth}{@{\extracolsep{\fill}}ll}
}{%
  \end{tabular*}
}

It would be better to define it as a list. eg description environment, that would allow page breaking.

changing your class file to say

\newenvironment{entrylist}{%
}{%
}
\renewcommand{\bfseries}{\headingfont\color{headercolor}}
\newcommand{\entry}[4]{%
\par
  \noindent\parbox[t]{%
    \dimexpr\textwidth-12.8cm\relax}{\raggedright #1}\parbox[t]{12.8cm}{%
    \textbf{#2}%
    \hfill%
    {\footnotesize\addfontfeature{Color=lightgray} #3}\par
    #4\vspace{\parsep}%
  }\par}

at least allows breaking between entries.

Unrelated but note the warnings

Underfull \hbox (badness 10000) in paragraph at lines 51--51

are due to misuse of \\ never use it at the end of a paragraph, or before \begin{itemize}

  • @SethCalkins no I didn't redefine it I just fixed the class file. Commented Aug 18, 2016 at 21:51
  • ok let me check with edits Commented Aug 18, 2016 at 21:51
  • Well unfortunately that completely messes up the left column (being on one line) Commented Aug 18, 2016 at 22:00
  • @SethCalkins I used the width for the right column you had specified, change the 12.8 to something less (in both places) and give more space to the left if that is needed (I didn't have your fonts so I didn't worry about such details) Commented Aug 18, 2016 at 22:04
