I am using documentclass moderncv to style my resume, and I'd like to put the information that normally goes at the bottom of the document, such as phone number and email, to the space next to the name aligned on the left of the document. I'm a beginnner user, so I'd love to get some enlightenment on this.

\documentclass[11pt,letterpaper,sans]{moderncv}

% moderncv themes
\moderncvstyle{casual}
\moderncvcolor{blue}
\usepackage[scale=0.75]{geometry}

% personal data
\firstname{John}
\familyname{Doe}
\mobile{+1~(234)~567~890}

% content

\begin{document}
\makecvtitle
\pagestyle{empty}

\section{Education}
\cventry{1998-2007}{Degree}{Institution}{City}{\textit{Grade}}{Description}

\section{Computer skills}

\thispagestyle{plain}
\end{document}

Simply put, I want to move \mobile from the bottom to the top left.

Class moderncv offers several styles to get a different layout of the resulting cv.

You used style casual, but have you tried style classic?

The following MWE with style classic:

\documentclass[11pt,letterpaper,sans]{moderncv}

% moderncv themes
\moderncvstyle{classic} % classic casual
\moderncvcolor{blue}
\usepackage[scale=0.75]{geometry}

% personal data
\firstname{John}
\familyname{Doe}
\mobile{+1~(234)~567~890}

% content

\begin{document}
\makecvtitle
\pagestyle{empty}

\section{Education}
\cventry{1998-2007}{Degree}{Institution}{City}{\textit{Grade}}{Description}

\section{Computer skills}

\thispagestyle{plain}
\end{document}

with the result:

resulting cv

This style puts all informations like address, email etc. in the title. With some more informations like the following:

\documentclass[11pt,a4paper,sans]{moderncv}

% moderncv themes
\moderncvstyle{classic} % casual, classic, banking, oldstyle and fancy
\moderncvcolor{blue}

\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}

\usepackage[scale=0.75]{geometry}

% personal data
\name{John}{Doe}
\title{Resumé title}
\address{street and number}{postcode city}{country}
\phone[mobile]{+1~(234)~567~890}
\phone[fixed]{+2~(345)~678~901}
\phone[fax]{+3~(456)~789~012}

  • I never tried classic, but this looks great too. I'll use this style from now on. Thanks!
