I'm working on the following file, whose main structure is borrowed from the @Tom Bombadil's answer.

\documentclass[12pt,letter]{book}

\usepackage{tikz}
\usepackage{setspace}
\usepackage[left=1in,
            right=1in,
            top=1in,
            bottom=1in]{geometry}

\renewcommand{\baselinestretch}{1.5}

\newenvironment{loggentry}[1]
{\noindent\textbf{#1}\par}{}

\pgfmathtruncatemacro{\StartYear}{2018}
\pgfmathtruncatemacro{\EndYear}{2118}

\newread\mysource

\begin{document}
    \foreach \Year in {\StartYear,...,\EndYear}
    {   \foreach \Month in {Jan,Feb,Mar,Apr,May,Jun,Jul,Aug,Sep,Oct,Nov,Dec}
        {   \foreach \Day in {1,...,31}
            {   \IfFileExists{\Year/\Month/\Day}
                {   \openin\mysource=\Year/\Month/\Day.tex
                    \begin{loggentry}{\Day/\Month/\Year}
                        \input{\Year/\Month/\Day}
                    \end{loggentry}
                }
                {
                }
            }
        }
    }
\end{document}

Let's say I have a file like 18.tex at ..\2018\Aug\:

\noindent Some test words as a diary partition...

I use MiKTeX 2.9 on a Windows 10 machine, and my editor is TeXstudio 2.11.2.

The compilation process (using pdfLaTeX) is kinda weird! In particular, when I open the editor and compile my main file, it yields what it supposed to yield:

enter image description here

However, if I compile the file for the second time, a fatal error kills the editor as follows:

Here is the content of the log file:

Does anybody know what is going on?
