I have multiple md files that each contain a different url in their yaml block:

url: https://google.com

these urls get parsed as inputs in a latex template where I use the

qrcode

package in order to render them as QR-codes instead of simply displaying the urls. These QR-codes are then part of the chapter headings.

The good news is that it works.

The bad news is that the qrcode package inserts an empty qr code at the first chapter (instead of the correct url) which causes all other QR-codes to switch places.

The QR code of chapter 2 is then actually that of chapter 1, chapter 3 has the QR for chapter 2 and so on.

I don't know what causes this, the logfile contains this output:

<Reading QR code for "" at level 1-H from aux file.>

<Reading QR code for "https://google.com" at level 4-M from aux file.>

Which probably means it somehow parses an empty string as the url for the QR code.

Any idea how to solve this?

It seems like the package reads the urls too early, i.e., before they are defined for a given chapter. If you could provide a full both minimal set of markdown documents with the command(s) you use to compile them (i.e., an MWE) then the community here might be able to find a solution. – Marijn Oct 15 '18 at 14:52
