I am using RevTex4-1 and I need to make bibliography double spaced.

I found this article which gives this approach.

\newlength{\bibitemsep}\setlength{\bibitemsep}{.2\baselineskip plus
.05\baselineskip minus .05\baselineskip}
\newlength{\bibparskip}\setlength{\bibparskip}{0pt}
\let\oldthebibliography\thebibliography
\renewcommand\thebibliography[1]{%
\oldthebibliography{#1}%
\setlength{\parskip}{\bibitemsep}%
\setlength{\itemsep}{\bibparskip}%
}

But I'm not sure how I can make this look like a double spaced bibliography as in word. My guess is to change the .2\baselineskip etc. to some other values.

Here is a portion of my document.

\documentclass[%
twocolumn,% see this website about two column figures
https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/160730/putting-two-column-wide-
figure-in-revtex4-1
aip,
% jmp,
% bmf,
% sd,
% rsi,
amsmath,amssymb,
% preprint,%
reprint,%
%author-year,%
%author-numerical,%
% Conference Proceedings
]{revtex4-1}
........
\begin{document}
........
\clearpage % this is to make the bibliography start on a new page as is required
\bibliography{Ref.bib}% Produces the bibliography via BibTeX.

\end{document}

This approach does change the spacing of the bibliography, but I'm not sure how to make it double spaced.

Thank you!

  • May I ask why you want this? I you want to submit an article to revtex do not change the style they want ... If you do not want to submit an article use another class, for example article. There you can use package setspace for example ... – Kurt Dec 7 at 0:06
  • I don't particularly want to. But the journal I am going to submit to wants it in this template, and with double spaced references which is not the default as far as I can tell. – WnGatRC456 Dec 7 at 0:07
