I started writing a thesis and I downloaded this template from my Uni. I am having some problems. firstly, something is wrong with this bit and I wanted to ask what:

\documentclass[a4paper,openany, 11pt]{book}

\usepackage{amsbsy}
\usepackage{amsmath}
\usepackage{amsfonts}
\usepackage{graphicx}
\usepackage{multirow}
\usepackage{mathrsfs}
\usepackage{color}
\usepackage[hidelinks]{hyperref}
\usepackage{cite}
\usepackage{enumitem}
\usepackage{epsfig}
\usepackage{caption}
\usepackage{subcaption}
\usepackage[strict]{changepage}

% Page Margins - Strath Requirement
\usepackage[left=4cm,right=2.5cm,top=2cm,bottom=4cm,includehead,includefoot,headheight=15pt]{geometry}

% Page Headers
\usepackage{fancyhdr}
\fancyhf{}
\renewcommand{\headrulewidth}{0pt} % optional
%\fancyhead[L]{\nouppercase{\leftmark} \hfill Section \nouppercase{\rightmark}}
\fancyhead[L]{\nouppercase{\leftmark}}
\cfoot{\thepage}
\pagestyle{fancy}

% Draft Watermark
\usepackage[draft=true,allpages=true,fontfamily=cmr,angle=90,scale=0.1,mark={\fboxsep=35pt\fboxrule=0pt\relax\fbox{-- DRAFT -- \today~--}},xcoord=-80,ycoord=-20]{draftmark}

% Line Spacing
%\def\baselinestretch{1.5}
\usepackage{setspace}
\setstretch{1.5}

% Place UoS Logo on Title Page (this package modifies the "\maketitel" command.)
\usepackage{titling}
\pretitle{%
  \begin{flushright}
  \vspace{-9.5cm}
  %\includegraphics[width=5cm,natwidth=472,natheight=531]{logo} \\[7cm]
  \includegraphics[width=5cm]{logo} \\[6cm]
  \end{flushright}
  \begin{center}
  \LARGE
}
\posttitle{\end{center}}

Secondly, the document all of the sudden takes forever to compile. I will try again after I solve that one and post further. Thank you!

  • Welcome! Could you please add an MWE? – JouleV Jan 11 at 17:02
  • I added the whole main.tex file : ) – Luk Jan 11 at 17:18
  • You have to provides us with draftmark. – Sigur Jan 11 at 17:27
  • Commenting that package and replacing logo by example-image (since you also didn't show the logo image), the file compiles normally. – Sigur Jan 11 at 17:28
  • Not sure how to provide with draftmark. Also, it does compile, but there are couple issues: 1. The page numbering starts from second page which is actually a blank page. 2. Later it also starts from 1. on the black page instead of the page where the Chapter starts – Luk Jan 11 at 17:34
