We are using the aa.cls style-file, and currently we have in our .tex file: "\citet[][see their equations 6-8]{1997Li}"

This produces: "Li et al. (1997, see their equations 6-8)"

The language editor for our journal requires a semicolon to separate the postnote and the citation: "Li et al. (1997; see their equations 6-8)"

Is there a way of achieving this? (Ideally without impacting other separators, for example those between multiple citations?)
