I decided to try the MikTex 2.9 portable. Its my first time using this software. I downloaded and extracted the contents on logical partition E:. I am having a problem to compile the code. I have updated the packages etc. It did not solve the issue. I am running Windows 10. Please see the log below:

  • The WARN miktex-pdftex - running with administrator privileges looks a bit suspicious. There is in general no good reason why you should call pdflatex with admin privileges. How do you call pdfLaTeX? – moewe Feb 2 at 8:35
  • I double click on 'miktex-portable.cmd' to open the MikTex Console. Then I click on the 'TexWorks' button to open the editor – Nadeem Muhammad Feb 2 at 8:50
  • Mhhh, the log shows you get into admin mode doing that. Do you get a Windows UAC prompt at any point? Do you click on anything that says admin? – moewe Feb 2 at 8:52
  • Sorry for the confusion, I might have tried running with admin priviledges to see if it solve the problem which it did not. I have open it again in the normal mode as described above. I have updated the main post with the new log because i could not add it here as it was long.     The format file is missing. Try to create it in the MiKTeX console. If it doesn't work add am issue in the MiKTeX issue tracker. – Ulrike Fischer Feb 2 at 9:27
