I was trying to install beamer package from Miktex Package Manager but it appears a message Miktex Problem report ="get host by name failed in tcp_connect()". If I try Sychronize I have the same problem. Then I tried change Package Repository, I check packages shall be installed from the Internet, then Next and the same ="get host by name failed in tcp_connect()" problem appears (so no there is no list). Any ideas what's wrong?

Welcome to TeX.SE! Which version of MiKTeX are you using? The MiKTeX Packager is a little bit old, today to tool you use is the MiKTEX Console where you find the package manager under Packages ... – Kurt Feb 4 at 18:41
  • You can find the MiKTeX Console in your Windows Apps. – Kurt Feb 4 at 23:51
  • @Kurt I am using Windows 7, and I can't find MiKTEX Console? Could you please send me the web link for downloading this app? – sky-light Feb 12 at 9:37
  • @sky-light on the MiKTeX homepage you can read: "Start MiKTeX Console. MiKTeX Console is a desktop application, i.e, it can be started in the usual way by searching and clicking MiKTeX Console in the application launcher (Windows start menu, Unity Dash, macOS Launchpad)." If you have no Console you have installed an older version of MiKTeX. Search for MiKTeX update instead. – Kurt Feb 12 at 13:41
