I would like to put 2 algorithms next to each other. I followed several suggestions and I ended up with something like:

 \begin{figure*}[ttt!]
  \begin{minipage}[t]{.38\linewidth}
 \begin{algorithm}[H]
 \caption{scheme 1}
 \label{alg:s1}
 \begin{algorithmic}[1]
  \State{bla1}
 \end{algorithmic}
 \end{algorithm}
  \end{minipage}
  \hfill
  \begin{minipage}[t]{.61\linewidth}
  \begin{algorithm}[H]
 \caption{scheme2}
 \label{alg:s2}
 \begin{algorithmic}[1]
  \State{bla2}
 \end{algorithmic}
 \end{algorithm}
  \end{minipage}
 \end{figure*}

This code works perfectly fine with latex article template. However, when I add it to journal template, it does not compile anymore. Error says: Not in outer par mode

I am wondering, is there any other way how to put algorithms next to each other? I can do it, if I skip algorithm and keep just algorithmic, but it does not look nice.

    Welcome to TeX.SX! Please complete to a full minimal working example (MWE)](tex.meta.stackexchange.com/q/228) that illustrates your problem. Reproducing the problem and finding out what the issue is will be much easier when we see compilable code, starting with \documentclass{...} and ending with \end{document}. – albert Feb 28 at 12:36
