I am new to latex. I have articles of same authors published in the same year.

\bibitem[\protect\citename{Haque and Kaykobad }2002]{ref03}
Haque,M.T. and Kaykobad,M. “Use of Phonetic Similarity for Bangla Spell Checker”,
Proc. 5th International Conference on Computer and Information Technology,
Dhaka, December, 2002, pp. 182-185.

\bibitem[\protect\citename{Haque and Kaykobad }2002]{ref19}
Haque, M. and Kaykobad, M., “Coding System for Bangla Spell Checker”,
Page 186 – 190, Proc. 5th International Conference on Computer and Information Technology,
Dhaka, December, 2002

Now, when I cite both article at the same time using

Text text text \cite{ref03,ref19}

It shows like this,

Text text text (Haque and Kaykobad 2002; Haque and Kaykobad 2002)

Now I don't find it appropriate since both are both and it is not clear which reference means which article. How to distinguish between these to references of same authors and same date? Thank you.

    If you write your \bibitems manually the classic solution would be to add a disambiguation letter after the year (\protect\citename{Haque and Kaykobad }2002a and \protect\citename{Haque and Kaykobad }2002b). If you use a .bst file to produce the bibliography for you it should take care of that automatically and if it does not it might be time to switch to a style that properly supports author-year citations with disambiguation. – moewe Apr 7 at 7:15
