So basically I want twoside (not including the title page) to start at page 1 Rather than 2.

\documentclass[12pt,a4paper,twoside]{report}
\begin{document}
\title{Title}
\author{Author}
\maketitle
\newpage
page 1
\newpage
page 2
\newpage
page 3
\end{document}
  • 1
    \setcounter{page}{1} after the first \newpage should suffice. – Phelype Oleinik Apr 15 at 12:52
  • That is a solution - thank you – Carl Apr 15 at 12:53

  • But this breaks stuff. – Johannes_B Apr 15 at 13:29
  • What do you mean – Carl Apr 16 at 13:10
  • Add \usepackage{showframe} and look where the margins are printed. TeX gets really confused. – Johannes_B Apr 16 at 13:22
  • Yes I noticed this, what would you recommend? – Carl Apr 17 at 15:45
  • Just live with the default. The title is the first page after all. – Johannes_B Apr 17 at 16:00
