I'm a new Latex user. I've got a document where I'd like to have the section name and page number in the footer. I'm using the

\pagestyle{fancy} \lhead{Document short title} \rhead{Other title}

\lfoot{\rightmark}

\rfoot{\thepage}

The issue is that I'm getting two page numbers -- one in the centre and one on the left. You can see the issue in the screen shot.

Any help on what I'm doing wrong here?

Thanks

    Try beginning with \fancyhf{}. – Bernard Jul 18 at 10:45
  • That's solved it!! I suppose the issue is that I needed to let the compiler know to let the package override the base? – elliot Jul 18 at 10:47
  • Yes. This command annihilates all previous settings. Other than that, I find using titleps (which comes with titlesec ) easier to use (you do not have to juggle marks if you want). – Bernard Jul 18 at 10:52
  • Great, want to add this as an answer and I'll accept? – elliot Jul 18 at 10:54
  • I don't think it's necessary. I'm sure it's already in some answer. Thank you anyway! – Bernard Jul 18 at 10:55
