Here is its code:

  1. I would like to ask how to change the circle bullet to square bullet like this one.

enter image description here

I got that this setting is controlled by this below code, but don't know how to do.

% An itemize-style list with lots of space between items
\newenvironment{outerlist}[1][\enskip\textbullet]%
        {\begin{itemize}[#1]}{\end{itemize}%
         \vspace{-0.6\baselineskip}}
  1. I would like to ask how to remove the indent right before the circle bullet, but couldn't figure out how to do.

Thank you for your help!

  • Please make your code an MWE! People are usually happy to answer a well prepared question. As it is, you are expecting us to do all the work. – schtandard Jul 30 at 16:10
  • Thank you for your guidance @schtandard. I got it and will try better next time. – Abstract Analysis Jul 30 at 16:16

  1. The label change can be done, e.g., by loading the package with required square symbol and applying this symbol. The package name is bbding and the symbol name \SquareCastShadowBottomRight (see the code snippet below marked by Q1). But there is a conflict with the package marvosym used in your code (the \Cross command is defined in both packages). Therefore, one should write something like \let\Cross\relax (see the complete code below). Finally, to change the label, you can write
% An itemize-style list with lots of space between items
\newenvironment{outerlist}[1][\scriptsize\SquareCastShadowBottomRight]% CHANGED - Q1
        {\begin{itemize}[#1,leftmargin=1.2em]}{\end{itemize}% ChANGED - Q2
         \vspace{-0.6\baselineskip}}

% An environment IDENTICAL to outerlist that has better pre-list spacing
% when used as the first thing in a \section
\newenvironment{lonelist}[1][\scriptsize\SquareCastShadowBottomRight]% CHANGED - Q1
        {\vspace{-\baselineskip}\begin{list}{#1}{%
        \setlength{\partopsep}{0pt}%
        \setlength{\topsep}{0pt}}}
        {\end{list}\vspace{-.6\baselineskip}}
  1. To avoid the white space beffor the label of an item, you should consider the change of the leftmargin key of an enumitem list. See the code snippet above marked by Q2 (you can justify the value of this key according to your preferences).

  2. Notice that you have to write the % sign after \def\halfblankline{\vspace{0.1in}} before Dr. \textbf{Y Dinh Le}. Without the % the compilation produces extra white space before the Dr. \textbf{Y Dinh Le}.

  3. Also, consider to change the leftmargin key for the enumerate part with Selected publications. In my opinion, this value should be equal to the leftmargin for itemize lists. But in this case, I propose to enlarge the current value 1.2em.

  4. The line with Homepage is too wide.
