  • could you add a MWE of what you have tried so-far? just an uncompilable snippet is not really useful. Commented Aug 1, 2019 at 20:12
  • @Raaja I just have a list of the compounds on flash cards. That small code at the bottom is my try. Commented Aug 1, 2019 at 20:44
  • @Raaja I inputted more code section but that was my attempt so far Commented Aug 1, 2019 at 20:46
  • That's completely ok, atleast make your script compilable in the form of a MWE. Commented Aug 1, 2019 at 20:46

One way to do this (draw Tryptophan using chemfig) is to start from 6-ring.

    Could you explain in detail, how this answer helps the OP? could you make your script more explicit and compilable? Commented Aug 1, 2019 at 21:13
\chemname{\chemfig{C_{\alpha}(-[5]H_3N^+) (-[7]C(=[1]O)(-[7]O^{-})) (>:[3]H) (<[1]C_{\beta}H_2(-[3]*5(-*6(-=-=-?)=-HN-=)))}}{Tryptophan, Trp, W}
