I am getting unexpected hyphenation behavior when using bold font. Below is the output using normal font.

Below is when using bold font. Note that font is not justified on the right side.

Below is when using mixed normal and bold font. I don't what is the basis for hyphenation.

This is affecting my report. Below is a screenshot from my report.

There is also another issue I am facing with hyphenation. Text that is already hyphenated is not hyphenated again which makes a bit sense but breaks the paragraph alignment.

By the way, I am using Lyx. Please advise.

Welcome to TeX.SE. Your posting describes an issue. In order for readers to have a chance to diagnose the cause(s) of the issue, more information is required. Please augment your code snippets -- starting with \documentclass and ending with \end{document} -- to make them compilable. – Mico Aug 11 at 5:50
  • Incidentally, should it be permissible to hyphenate the word "VMware" (presumably after "VM")? – Mico Aug 11 at 5:52
  • 2
InsertFormatingHyphenation point with the cursor after "VM". The Code Preview Pane (menu View) should show VM\-preview (the same approach for preserva\-tion) For the MWE asked for Mico, just remove as far as possible the irrelevant parts for the issue in the Lyx document (figures, title, etc.) and just copy the code showed in the Code Preview Pane. – Fran Aug 11 at 6:28
  • Regarding hyphenation of words that already contain a hyphen, see Why can words with hyphen char not be hyphenated? – barbara beeton Aug 13 at 1:23
  • @Mico I have updated the source codes. – Meshaal Aug 14 at 8:12
