How to change the layout of the grading table in the exam document class (follow-up)

Question

This 8-year old answer doesn't seem to work anymore with the most recent version of exam class.

So, I would like to understand what changes are needed to get the desired output of point tables

Additionally, how to apply the same approach to the grading tables?
