I have a problem that seems not to be the same as all the similar questions that I have seen. I would like to change the color in only a selected part of a page. Namely, I want a band of specified width to be in a certain color, in a way that doesn't affect and is not affected by anything else I put on the page.
For example, if I insert an image that is wider than my wannabe colored band, it should simply jut out of the colored area, without changing its width and without being thrown entirely out of it. It seems to me there should be a simple way to do this, but I haven't found one. Thank you!
