For discussions of the use of the pdfsync package. With versions of pdftex (and xetex and luatex) later than early-2012, the consensus seems to be that the pdfsync package causes lots of conflicts with other packages. Since the package's functionality is currently offered more robustly by many modern TeX-aware editors a, there seems to be little reason to the pdfsync package any longer.
