Yes, there is! In some sense, at least for mathematics. The NIST Digital Library of Mathematical Functions allows you to download for each equation its LaTeX representation. Click on the information symbol on the right of any equation and then click on the "TeX encoding": it will download the LaTeX form. For instance, for the equation 5.10.1, it reports \[...

If you become an official CTAN mirror: How much physical space is required (i.e.15GB)? 32GB (2013: between 20GB and 30GB). How many times a year should TeX repositories get updated by new versions of TeX packages? Once a day. Sometimes the miktex maintainer disables the main server with the list of repositories e.g. when a serious bug has appeared to avoid that people download a broken package. Sometimes the main server is simply down. In both cases the best is to wait and to check if there are messages on the miktex website or the miktex mailing list. If you badly need a ...

There seems to be three options: Look at the source code in wikipedia pages with math code. Just hit edit the source code or View Source. Don't use the visual editor: look in the "raw" source code, possibly for the <math> tag. Pick a textbook whose sources are available: List of books written in LaTeX with the source available Try Springer's tool: ...

A more specialised examples gallery, dedicated to drawing pictures with pgf/TikZ, can be found on TeXample.net. Some general templates/examples are available on howtoTeX.com.

You can use the package manager for that. However, I would recommend you to update to MikTeX 2.9 if possible. Then you can go to the Repository Menu and select Change Repository option. After clicking next if you wish to have it updated from internet, you would get the list of available repositories. Note that, an available repository can be offline ...

Use the "packages shall be installed from a directory" option instead. Download the packages you want from https://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/systems/win32/miktex/tm/packages to a directory on your own system. Also download the files miktex-zzdb1-2.9.tar.lzma miktex-zzdb2-2.9.tar.lzma so that the directory is recognized as a package repository (change 2....

Sorry for my very (very) late answer, but I hope it would help anyway. I've made a collection, named Debibify, of some bibTeX bibliography styles.

As a starting point, I look on my own computer in the files that came with e.g. TexLive: .../tex/latex/biblatex and other stuff in .../tex/latex that starts with biblatex. I take the style that is closed to what I want and copy the file in the local directory and rename the .cbx file. In this case, I renamed it to brent.cbx. I further make an almost empty ....

I've created a GitHub reprository with a lot of examples. Most of them are not compiled, but every example is in one separate folder and has its own Makefile. So you can simply run make to get the pdf. Or (for TikZ examples) you can also run make png to create a png, make svg and make gif.

Both TeX Live and MiKTeX take their package content from CTAN. As a (La)TeX package author, the part of the process you influence is sending stuff to CTAN: basically what it does and what it is called. The TeX Live team and Christian Schenk (MiKTeX) then deal with the task of adding stuff to the distributions. Once that happens, the resulting bundled ...

I seems that you got an installation file from a CTAN mirror that hadn't yet updated to TL 2011. Redownload it and try to be more lucky the next time (most mirrors should have updated by now). Conversely, when you get the error message the local installation and the repository being accessed are not compatible: local: 2011 repository: 2010 then ...

To change the repository in MiKTeX you need to open the package manager. Then go to Repository > Change Package Repository. Then you have to choose the option "Packages shall be installed from the Internet". After this you should be able to choose a new repository.

El Capitan removes the long-time MacTeX default path location of /usr/texbin and does not allow it to be recreated. Various parts of TeX Live Utility assumed this as a default path setting. Unfortunately, under some conditions you could also end up with this error message instead of the intended message (because Apple only displays the first alert sheet on a ...

The update manager shows also a smaller list. As far as I can see it lists only the repositories which are intact and have no delay. If you really want to use one of the other you can try to start the installer (setupwiz) (and later the package manager mpm) from the command line and set the repository through the options: http://docs.miktex.org/2.9/manual/...

There seems to be a nice compilation of thesis templates on this site: https://www.sharelatex.com/templates/thesis/ These templates include many already mentioned here.

There are several options to achieve your aim, choosing the best depends mostly on the license and distribution terms Free license (LPPL etc): Upload to CTAN This is the best option, as your packages will automatically (after a short delay) appear in TeX Live and MikTeX. In this case you don't have to prepare a lot but simply upload. Semi-free (unfit for ...

the file testmath.tex is part of the documentation for the amsmath package. it's in tex live, on ctan, or available via a link on the page http://www.ams.org/tex/amslatex (under "additional documentation}. the content is kind of "random", but has a good variety of examples and has been used, among other things, for stress testing of new math fonts.

There were problems with MiKTeX yesterday. In fact even the MiKTeX website wasn't accessible. I have the same problem as you, but I believe that it will be solved in a few hours.

A really great place for LaTeX templates is: http://www.latextemplates.com This website is beautifully laid out and the templates are sorted into categories that make it easy to find the template that is best suited to your purposes. Don't forget to about PGFPlots and PSTricks.

TLContrib is for packages not accepted by TeX Live, usually due to licensing restrictions. In the case of TeX Live Utility, you would drag the URL http://tlcontrib.metatex.org/2013/ to its address bar, or add it to the list of repositories. It appears to only be available for TL 2010-2013, though.

I probably arrived late to the party, but I'm surprised because Overleaf has not been mentioned. In its gallery you can browse all the available templates and, moreover, edit them using Overleaf (free online service): https://www.overleaf.com/gallery The thing I prefer about the service is the partial compilation of files, giving the possibility to see ...

Unofficial (but linked from the Graduate School webpages) thesis template for Tennessee Tech University. Maybe the guys over at texample.net might be able to host this. The actual maintainer @StefanKottwitz is also active over here so maybe you may want to ask him.
