Questions related to plot data in a violin-like shape rather than as boxplot.

Package tikzviolinplot can be found on ctan. It's similar to a boxplot, but draws colored frequency distribuitions instead of boxes and whiskers along with the data.

Introduced by Mary Eleanor Spear in her book "Charting Statistics" in 1952 (fromwikipedia) boxplots are useful to compare 1-diemnsional distributions at a glance.
