XeLaTeX does not show latin extended characters with stix2
The stix2 package is just for pdflatex.
For XeLaTeX or LuaLaTeX you want to use unicode-math or, but I wouldn't recommend it, only set the main text fonts with fontspec.

I'd use lualatex, but if using xelatex you can use a pair of character classes to insert a kern to suppress ligatures.

Xelatex: missing character, but character is present in the font file (tbsp)
Make the character into a command that produces a thin space, if U+202F doesn't exist in the font.

\nocite{*} causes Undefined control sequence at \printbibliography
As pointed out by David Carlisle, that undefined \ssr command at the end was hiding in a couple of my bibliography entries.

Adding pdfs from custom directory inserts only one page
This issue is due to the primitive \detokenize that changes catcodes. Thereupon the check of the filename extension doesn't work correctly and pdfpages erroneously assumes that your file is not a PDF ...

While I recommend the same solution as @egreg, another workaround that enables the legacy 8-bit fonts in LuaLaTeX is

Lettrine and polyglossia error
Version 2.60 of lettrine.sty and after (current is 2.61) have been made compatible with bidi. Rather than using older versions of lettrine.sty, I recommend to just remove the file lettrine-xetex-bidi....
